Description: Technical Equipment Used in Luisa Translating Bureau
Mailboxes, the original files received from customers, translated texts and translation memories are stored on the servers, not in local workstations. Only authorised users have access to the workstations and to the files stored on the servers. The local area networks are protected from outside access by firewalls administered by the respective ISP-s of both offices. For transferring large files we use a FTP server that is also administered by our ISP and features different user levels for accessing different folders.
Microsoft Office is the tool Luisa Translating Bureau uses most often. Most of the texts are submitted as Microsoft Word documents. For translating documents in electronic format we use CAT tools, namely Trados Translator’s Workbench (versions 2006 and 2007, with Word and Tageditor as editing environments) and Wordfast, and also Transit Satellite PE on the customer’s request. These tools are also used by several of our translators working out of office. There are translation memories created for large customers to facilitate translation and maintain terminology consistency.
